things to like 09: robert krulwich speech

from radiolab.org:
"This spring, Robert Krulwich gave the commencement speech at California Institute of Technology. He called it “Tell Me a Story.” And commencement speech it may be, it gets at the heart of what we do here at Radiolab. It’s a treat to hear his passion. We enjoyed it. And we thought you might too."

Things to Like 06: Watchmen Trailer

Holy Shit! The Watchmen Trailer Arrives!

Seriously, if you don't know/haven't read Watchmen... don't ever come back to my blog. And don't think I won't know if you stop by... I will... oh I will.

But do yourself a favor, screw the youtube version... watch it in HiDef.

And some other nerds made a screen by panel comparison... check it out.

Seriously, Doctor Manhattan.

things to like 03: Little Boots and Tenori-on

Check out this video of little boots covering a hot chip song. And check out that she's playing it on an Energon cube - dude, Megatron is gonna be pissed. You know, if you're Megatron you're all like, "what's that crazy white bitch doing with my Engergon cube? don't make me turn into a gun and then shoot myself at you."

Little Boots is the new project of the singer from Dead Disco - you might remember Dead Disco from never having heard of them before. That's okay - they're totally rad - click here: DeadDisco.

Anyhow - here's the video:

The energon cube is a Tenori-on. More info here: TENORI-ON

Mp3 Time!
Little Boots - Stuck on Repeat (thanks to discodust)

things to like 02: RadioLab

RADIOLAB!

Quote the wikipedia:
Radio Lab is a radio program broadcast on National Public Radio. Hosted by Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich, each hour-long show focuses on a topic of a scientific and philosophical nature, through stories, interviews, and thought experiments. The show attempts to approach broad, difficult topics such as "time" and "morality" in an accessible and light-hearted manner.

Radio Lab is without a doubt the most innovative show on radio today.
This American Life + Nova + Dr. Who + 40's radio serial drama = Holy Shit Dude

I would say listen to the episode titled "musical language" first.

Free Podcast on Itunes - featuring all 20 episodes.

Go to their blog at www.radiolab.org for tons of great, nerdy entertainment.

things to like 01: new zach galifianasty movie

man, i'm a sucker for movies like this. another one of those dramedies where everyone is always stifling frustrated yells. you can always tell how good a movie like this is going to be by how many times someone in a tie screams in the trailer. according to this trailer... best. movie. ever. narrowly beating out little miss sunshine and the squid and the whale.

i bet someone finds out bad news right as a velvet underground song starts up.

Idea for New Dramedy:
The owner of a large bookstore chain starts putting the owner of a small local bookstore out of business. Meanwhile they have been corresponding over the internet without knowing who either of them are. They can't stand each other in person but over the internet they are very attracted. He finds out who she is but she doesn't know. He starts to like her more but she still hates him. He has to fix it so he goes to an automated fortune telling machine which turns him into a 10 year old boy again.
